You know the year is winding down when the rain settles in, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and you start seeing Christmas decorations in the stores. (My first sighting of lighted trees - - and subsequent eye-rolling - - was about two weeks ago at a big box store which shall remain nameless. Heaven help us.)
But the end of the year also means it’s the season for the 2018 Color of the Year announcements. Lots of paint companies have their own picks and it’s always entertaining to see what color they think is going to be the cat’s meow in interior design for the following year.
Sherwin Williams is one of the first out of the box this year with their choice for 2018: a color called Oceanside; a deep gorgy blue with a hint of jewel-toned green.

It was fun to open an email and see this color because just so happens that I’ve been using an almost identical blue in a project I’ve been working on for the last few months, and I also happen to LOVE. IT. (This one’s for you, Pam!)
Oceanside's blue is more complex than just navy, and its transitional look can be used across many design styles, from mid-century modern to Mediterranean-inspired, traditional to contemporary, says Sherwin Williams.
Use it boldly on your walls in a den, living room or bedroom.

If large doses of strong color aren’t your style, try it as an accent color on cabinets, furniture, fabrics, or even your front door.
Just for fun you can see what Oceanside would look like in your own room by uploading a photo to Sherwin Williams’ online color tool called Color Snap. Or take any of their other paint colors for a virtual spin if you need some help deciding.
One of these days I'll do a round up of all the paint store’s Colors of the Year. But for the Academy Awards of color, my money is always on Pantone, the global authority who forecasts the next big color to influence the entire design world. I'll definitely share that one when it comes out.
Their color for 2017 was Greenery. But for now, I’m lovin’ me some Oceanside!
What about you? Does Oceanside make you want to grab a paint brush? Leave me a comment below - - I'd love to hear what you think!
