Hi, I'm Julie, Chief Executive Empress

of my little apple green design studio.

Welcome to my blog!

When I'm not out visiting a client or searching for just the right  product for a project, I can probably be found in my happy little studio (painted the perfect shade of green), busy drawing up new ideas for a cool kitchen or a "spa-licious" bathroom. I like to share the fun stuff I find along the way!

RANDOM NOTES FROM MY LITTLE

Trend alert: blush pink!

PHOTO: www.Pantone.com

If you’ve been kicking around long enough, you notice that there’s nothing really new under the sun in décor or fashion. They’ve just put a different twist on an old fad and served it up again. (High-waisted “mom jeans” any one?!)

Waaay back in 2016 when “Rose Quartz” was named Pantone's color of the year, my exact thought was “eww.” I had vivid memories of the dusty rose horror that engulfed the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. I sincerely apologize if you like mauve, but it’s my least favorite color. In the world. And apparently it was back. SIGH.

However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the new blush pink I’m seeing on the internet and in stores. It seems fresh and kind of warm, without a hint of "dusty-ness," and I’m actually liking it.

I’ve collected a few photos for show and tell - - see what YOU think.

Here's a whole room full of blush pink: walls and furniture, and possibly the ceiling. It's kept from being too sickly sweet with all the black and white photos and the neutral colored sofa and mustard (!) pillows. Not to mention the cowhide stool!

Here's an interesting place for pink - - an entry door. It makes me want to walk in and see what the rest of the place looks like!

And look at this bathroom covered in pink mosaic tile. This is definitely not your grandma's pink tile!

Color of the Year

If you're not brave enough to try a whole room full of pink, start small with chairs and blend the color with whatever you're using now. Blush can go with just about any neutral: from black to navy to taupe to gray.

Or just add some smaller accents like throws, pillows, lamps, etc. In this room they used a couple of pops of the color and it brightens everything up.

If decorating with blush pink doesn't float your boat, you could add a few pieces to your wardrobe by way of jewelry or a handbag (yes, to the bag!).

I can't say that I'd want to decorate with this color in MY house, but I'd take that handbag in a red hot minute. (No pun intended. Seriously.)

So what do YOU think? Are you up for a little more pink in your life? It may or may not be for you either, but I think it's always fun to see what's out there. :-) Feel free to leave me a comment below!
